When you arrive for your Executive Health & Lifestyle Assessment, you will be greeted by a member of our staff. An overview of your assessment will be provided, including an estimate of how long it will take (generally 3-4 hours) and an outline of the tests to be performed. Although your program will be customized to suit your age, gender and medical history, Medisys’ Executive Health & Lifestyle

Assessment generally includes the following components:

Laboratory testing

  • Complete blood count
  • Biochemistry profile including: CHOL/HDL/LDL ratio, Cardiac CRP, Apolipo Protein B
  • Urinalysis
  • Screening for faecal occult blood
  • Ultra sensitive thyroid function test (TSH)
  • Prostate-specific antigen (PSA)
  • Ferritin

Medical assessment

  • Complete medical examination including: medical history; identification of risk factors for prostate and colon cancer, gynaecological and breast cancer, as well as cardiovascular diseases, etc.; individual counselling on prevention; overview of lifestyle habits
  • Abdominal ultrasound*

Cardiovascular assessment

  • Resting electrocardiogram (ECG)
  • Stress ECG or “treadmill test” performed by a kinesiologist, supervised by a physician and interpreted by a cardiologist (at every Medisys location in Canada)*
  • Full fitness evaluation performed by exercise physiologists including an assessment of flexibility, muscular strength, body-mass index and cardiovascular capacity

Lung assessment

  • Spirometry

Hearing assessment

  • Audiogram

Vision testing

  • Ortho-rater& Ishihara—evaluates one’s ability to see clearly from various distances (Ortho-rater) and to detect colours (Ishihara)* 
  • Tonometry—glaucoma screening procedure*

Lifestyle assessment

  • Meeting with nutritionist to evaluate current eating habits and caloric/fat/vitamin intake; personalized recommendations for improvement
  • Evaluation of stress level and recommendations for psychological well-being
  • Follow-up on blood lipids/cardiac risk factors after three months*

Specialized services for women

  • Gynaecological examination + PAP smear test (liquid)
  • Quality-of-life counselling: pre-menopausal, menstrual syndrome, fertility, osteoporosis, etc.

Additional testing

  • Mammography (women >40 yrs.)
  • Colonoscopy (> 50 yrs. or if medically required)**
  • Immunization update: D2T5 – Polio – MMR 
  • Bone mineral density
