Ultrasound

Ultrasounds use high-frequency sound waves that bounce off tissues and organs to form a multi-dimensional image that helps detect diseases and damaged tissue, locate abnormal growths, and detect a range of health conditions.

What to expect

During your ultrasound, you will lie comfortably on your back on an examination table that can tilt and move to accommodate the image required. A clear, water-based gel is applied to the skin to facilitate contact. The technician presses a wand against your skin, moving over the area of interest to create images of the inside of the body.

Most ultrasound examinations take from 10 minutes to 20 minutes.
