X-RAYS: A WIDE RANGE OF APPLICATIONS
An x-ray is a quick, painless exam that produces images of the body. It helps detect medical conditions in the head, spine, chest, abdomen and bones.
During an x-ray, a small amount of radiation passes through the body, but your exposure is very limited, so the risk of damage is extremely low.
WHAT TO EXPECT
X-rays themselves are painless. To obtain a clear image, you will be asked to remain still and hold your breath for short periods.
HOW TO PREPARE
There is no specific preparation for an x-ray, but you may be asked to change into a gown or remove clothing or jewellery in the area to be examined. Please let your doctor and x-ray specialist know if you may be pregnant.
