VACCINES CAN BE UP TO 99% EFFECTIVE IN PREVENTING A VARIETY OF DISEASES
WHAT TO EXPECT
During your consultation, you will receive medical guidance specific to your travel itinerary and advice on staying healthy while abroad, and avoiding tropical or infectious diseases. Depending on your age, current health status and travel plans, vaccinations and/or prescription medications may be provided to prevent or treat certain ailments (eg. malaria, travellers’ diarrhea, yellow fever, altitude sickness).
ARE THE FEES COVERED?
The Canadian public health system doesn’t cover the fees associated with travel medical consultations. However, many private insurance companies cover travel vaccine costs in whole or in part. A detailed receipt for insurance purposes is provided.
WHEN SHOULD I BOOK AN APPOINTMENT?
It’s a good idea to visit a Medisys Travel Health Clinic 6 to 8 weeks before your departure. However, if that deadline has already come and gone, there are accelerated versions of some vaccines that offer you protection – even at the last minute.
A SINGLE SOURCE OF ADVICE
Medisys travel clinics are certified yellow fever vaccine providers as designated by Health Canada. Plus we always have the latest travel advisories for any destination. For more information on travel advisories, visit the Government of Canada travel advisories website.
WHAT VACCINES DO I NEED?
Recommend vaccinations vary by destination and change from time to time as new diseases emerge in new locations.
